Hymns, Carols, Songs and Incarnation
Lindisfarne held a weekend long training event for those students preparing for ordained ministry at Ushaw College in Durham on 27-29 November.
During the weekend Michael Forster, the well known hymn writer, led us in thinking about some of the ways that the Church uses hymns and carols in its worship around Christmas time. In his thought provoking input Michael challenged the group to go beyond the “fluffiness” of the portrayal of Christmas to think about the significance of the incarnation of Jesus Christ for the world today. He shared a range of material with us and explained what had prompted him to write some of his hymns and songs.
